The Province of Kalymnos is located on the northern part of the Dodecanese Prefecture in the Southeastern Aegean Sea, comprising the islands of Kalymnos, Leros, Patmos, Astypalaia, Leipsi and Agathonisi.

Kalymnos, the largest of the group, is known as the island of sponge divers. A plethora historic sites monuments, acropolis, temples, Byzantine castles give testimony rich history culture. head village Pothia built amphitheatrically, its vividly colourful mostly neoclassic houses, churches bell-towers flowing down from Castle to port. Lakki, the island’s port, is distinguished for its characteristic western European architecture and public buildings constructed by Italian conquerors. Leros is an attractive congress destination, known for its first-rate services. On the last Sunday of Lent each year, the Carnival is celebrated with a flotilla parade, dancing and wine festivals.

Between the islands of Leros and Ikaria lays the “ascetic figure” of Patmos, or the Jerusalem of the Aegean as it is called for the air of deep devoutness permeating the island during religious celebrations. It was here, in one of the many caves on Patmos, where Saint John the Theologian had the vision of the Apocalypse. An imposing monastery dedicated to Saint John dominates the skyline over the picturesque houses and mansions clinging onto its feet.

True to its traditions and reputation as a hospitable and plentiful land, Astypalaia presents visitors with many opportunities to enjoy various cultural events organized by Greek artists and the local Cultural Association. Visitors will marvel at the quaint head-village of “Chora”, imposing castles, traditional windmills and enjoy unique trekking paths smelling of thyme, surfboard winds and underwater diving. Finally, enjoy the local honey variety and dairy products, available for testing but also for participation in their production process.
Leipsi comprises a small cluster of islands, the largest of whom is uninhabited; beautiful sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, whitewashed houses with indigo windowpanes, numerous country chapels, exquisite fresh fish, cobblestone alleys, an excellent destination for those seeking an escapade to serenity.

Agathonisi is distinguished for its open seas, authentic Aegean colour, virgin beaches, crystal clear waters and abundance of fresh fish.
Several cultural events of special interest are organized in all the islands, specially during the summer season, such as concerts and folklore feasts during which visitors have the chance to taste for free local products, such as thyme honey in Kalymnos, skim-milk cheese and local crackers in Leros, several kinds of cheese, honey and sea food in Astypalaia, wine in Leros, etc.
